2 Kings 12 and Ezekiel 2

To receive the word of God from God and execute it requires the price to be counted and paid to be rejected by those we would have love us and lookup to use. Jehoash failed to pay this price because his identity and trust was too strong in his mentor, the high priest. Jeremiah was commanded to not rebel like Israel against God’s word that he was to give and he paid the price to execute it.

2Kgs 12:1-3 (KJV)

1In the seventh year of Jehu Jehoash began to reign; and forty years reigned he in Jerusalem. And his mother’s name was Zibiah of Beersheba.2And Jehoash did that which was right in the sight of the LORD all his days wherein Jehoiada the priest instructed him.3But the high places were not taken away: the people still sacrificed and burnt incense in the high places.

2Kgs 12:19-21 (KJV)

19And the rest of the acts of Joash, and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?20And his servants arose, and made a conspiracy, and slew Joash in the house of Millo, which goeth down to Silla.21For Jozachar the son of Shimeath, and Jehozabad the son of Shomer, his servants, smote him, and he died; and they buried him with his fathers in the city of David: and Amaziah his son reigned in his stead.

Ezek 2:7-10 (KJV)

7And thou shalt speak my words unto them, whether they will hear, or whether they will forbear: for they are most rebellious.8But thou, son of man, hear what I say unto thee; Be not thou rebellious like that rebellious house: open thy mouth, and eat that I give thee.9And when I looked, behold, an hand was sent unto me; and, lo, a roll of a book was therein;10And he spread it before me; and it was written within and without: and there was written therein lamentations, and mourning, and woe.

Genesis 12 and 1 Corinthians 9
These two chapters reveal the importance of knowing our authoriy and identity in the LORD so that we exercise the authority of the LORD through us instead of falling prey to fear which causes us to misrepresent the glory of God and suffer needless humiliation.

Gen 12:7-9 (KJV)

7And the LORD appeared unto Abram, and said, Unto thy seed will I give this land: and there builded he an altar unto the LORD, who appeared unto him.8And he removed from thence unto a mountain on the east of Bethel, and pitched his tent, having Bethel on the west, and Hai on the east: and there he builded an altar unto the LORD, and called upon the name of the LORD.9And Abram journeyed, going on still toward the south.

Gen 12:11-20 (KJV)

11And it came to pass, when he was come near to enter into Egypt, that he said unto Sarai his wife, Behold now, I know that thou art a fair woman to look upon:12Therefore it shall come to pass, when the Egyptians shall see thee, that they shall say, This is his wife: and they will kill me, but they will save thee alive.13Say, I pray thee, thou art my sister: that it may be well with me for thy sake; and my soul shall live because of thee.14And it came to pass, that, when Abram was come into Egypt, the Egyptians beheld the woman that she was very fair.15The princes also of Pharaoh saw her, and commended her before Pharaoh: and the woman was taken into Pharaoh’s house.16And he entreated Abram well for her sake: and he had sheep, and oxen, and he asses, and menservants, and maidservants, and she asses, and camels.17And the LORD plagued Pharaoh and his house with great plagues because of Sarai Abram’s wife.18And Pharaoh called Abram, and said, What is this that thou hast done unto me? why didst thou not tell me that she was thy wife?19Why saidst thou, She is my sister? so I might have taken her to me to wife: now therefore behold thy wife, take her, and go thy way.20And Pharaoh commanded his men concerning him: and they sent him away, and his wife, and all that he had.

1Cor 9:1-9 (KJV)

1Am I not an apostle? am I not free? have I not seen Jesus Christ our Lord? are not ye my work in the Lord?2If I be not an apostle unto others, yet doubtless I am to you: for the seal of mine apostleship are ye in the Lord.3Mine answer to them that do examine me is this,4Have we not power to eat and to drink?5Have we not power to lead about a sister, a wife, as well as other apostles, and as the brethren of the Lord, and Cephas?6Or I only and Barnabas, have not we power to forbear working?7Who goeth a warfare any time at his own charges? who planteth a vineyard, and eateth not of the fruit thereof? or who feedeth a flock, and eateth not of the milk of the flock?8Say I these things as a man? or saith not the law the same also?9For it is written in the law of Moses, Thou shalt not muzzle the mouth of the ox that treadeth out the corn. Doth God take care for oxen?
