Hearing The Rod

March 7, 2023 Tuesday
Proverbs 1 and Psalms 136 plus Luke 16
The message in these chapters is to enter into the genuine fear of God the brings knowledge and especially of good from evil because that brings openess to God’s reproofs and His mercy. What stops one from entering the genuine fear of God and God’s mercy is living a life of covetousness.
Prov 1:7-9 (KJV)
7The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.8My son, hear the instruction of thy father, and forsake not the law of thy mother:9For they shall be an ornament of grace unto thy head, and chains about thy neck.
Prov 1:29-31 (KJV)
29For that they hated knowledge, and did not choose the fear of the LORD:30They would none of my counsel: they despised all my reproof.31Therefore shall they eat of the fruit of their own way, and be filled with their own devices.
Prov 1:19-24 (KJV)
19So are the ways of every one that is greedy of gain; which taketh away the life of the owners thereof.20Wisdom crieth without; she uttereth her voice in the streets:21She crieth in the chief place of concourse, in the openings of the gates: in the city she uttereth her words, saying,22How long, ye simple ones, will ye love simplicity? and the scorners delight in their scorning, and fools hate knowledge?23Turn you at my reproof: behold, I will pour out my spirit unto you, I will make known my words unto you.24Because I have called, and ye refused; I have stretched out my hand, and no man regarded;
Prov 1:28-31 (KJV)
28Then shall they call upon me, but I will not answer; they shall seek me early, but they shall not find me:29For that they hated knowledge, and did not choose the fear of the LORD:30They would none of my counsel: they despised all my reproof.31Therefore shall they eat of the fruit of their own way, and be filled with their own devices.
Ps 136:1-5 (KJV)
1O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.2O give thanks unto the God of gods: for his mercy endureth for ever.3O give thanks to the Lord of lords: for his mercy endureth for ever.4To him who alone doeth great wonders: for his mercy endureth for ever.5To him that by wisdom made the heavens: for his mercy endureth for ever.
Luke 16:13-14 (KJV)
13No servant can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.14And the Pharisees also, who were covetous, heard all these things: and they derided him.

Micah 6 and John 5
Mic 6:4-9 (KJV)
4For I brought thee up out of the land of Egypt, and redeemed thee out of the house of servants; and I sent before thee Moses, Aaron, and Miriam.5O my people, remember now what Balak king of Moab consulted, and what Balaam the son of Beor answered him from Shittim unto Gilgal; that ye may know the righteousness of the LORD.6Wherewith shall I come before the LORD, and bow myself before the high God? shall I come before him with burnt offerings, with calves of a year old?7Will the LORD be pleased with thousands of rams, or with ten thousands of rivers of oil? shall I give my firstborn for my transgression, the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul?8He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the LORD require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?9The LORD’S voice crieth unto the city, and the man of wisdom shall see thy name: hear ye the rod, and who hath appointed it.

Mic 6:15-16 (KJV)
15Thou shalt sow, but thou shalt not reap; thou shalt tread the olives, but thou shalt not anoint thee with oil; and sweet wine, but shalt not drink wine.16For the statutes of Omri are kept, and all the works of the house of Ahab, and ye walk in their counsels; that I should make thee a desolation, and the inhabitants thereof an hissing: therefore ye shall bear the reproach of my people.
John 5:18-21 (KJV)
18Therefore the Jews sought the more to kill him, because he not only had broken the sabbath, but said also that God was his Father, making himself equal with God.19Then answered Jesus and said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father do: for what things soever he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise.20For the Father loveth the Son, and sheweth him all things that himself doeth: and he will shew him greater works than these, that ye may marvel.21For as the Father raiseth up the dead, and quickeneth them; even so the Son quickeneth whom he will.
John 5:38-44 (KJV)
38And ye have not his word abiding in you: for whom he hath sent, him ye believe not.39Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.40And ye will not come to me, that ye might have life.41I receive not honour from men.42But I know you, that ye have not the love of God in you.43I am come in my Father’s name, and ye receive me not: if another shall come in his own name, him ye will receive.44How can ye believe, which receive honour one of another, and seek not the honour that cometh from God only?
Ps 2:7-12 (KJV)
7I will declare the decree: the LORD hath said unto me, Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee.8Ask of me, and I shall give thee the heathen for thine inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession.9Thou shalt break them with a rod of iron; thou shalt dash them in pieces like a potter’s vessel.10Be wise now therefore, O ye kings: be instructed, ye judges of the earth.11Serve the LORD with fear, and rejoice with trembling.12Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and ye perish from the way, when his wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all they that put their trust in him.
Heb 1:5-6 (KJV)
5For unto which of the angels said he at any time, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee? And again, I will be to him a Father, and he shall be to me a Son?6And again, when he bringeth in the firstbegotten into the world, he saith, And let all the angels of God worship him.
Acts 13:33-37 (KJV)
33God hath fulfilled the same unto us their children, in that he hath raised up Jesus again; as it is also written in the second psalm, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee.34And as concerning that he raised him up from the dead, now no more to return to corruption, he said on this wise, I will give you the sure mercies of David.35Wherefore he saith also in another psalm, Thou shalt not suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.36For David, after he had served his own generation by the will of God, fell on sleep, and was laid unto his fathers, and saw corruption:37But he, whom God raised again, saw no corruption.
2Cor 5:21 (KJV)
21For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.
