ROUGH NOTES

January 1, 2016 Friday

Hosea 14:

  1. All backsliding from the LORD is conquered when we turn deeply from our heart to the LORD and pray with words that we have diligently gathered to be the very best and meaningful words in repentance. 1-2
  2. Those that feel fatherless and orphaned or empty are those that are at the place to turn to the LORD and find His mercy and they are those that will repent at trusting in their own sufficiency rather than the LORD 3 Asshur shall not save us; we will not ride upon horses: neither will we say any more to the work of our hands, [Ye are] our gods: for in thee the fatherless findeth mercy.
  3. God will then turn away His anger and become the very source of their life and they will experience His presence as the dew so that they grow in purity and power before God as the lily. 4-7
  4. The things that were idols become absolutely abhorrent and in place they are addicted to the LORD as their very life source and fulfillment like a green fir tree because they experience that LORD as their very enjoyment. 8-9

Jeremiah 3:
God gives his people in their backsliding the opportunity to return to Him and emphasizes their need to return to him as their Father.
(Jer 3:4,5 [KJV]) Wilt thou not from this time cry unto me, My father, thou [art] the guide of my youth? Will he reserve [his anger] for ever? will he keep [it] to the end? Behold, thou hast spoken and done evil things as thou couldest.

The LORD pleads with his people that are backslidden to acknowledge their sin and that they have not obeyed His voice so that they do not receive His judgments but rather are blessed with pastors that are from God that would feed them knowledge and understanding. 14-15

The Lord points to the time when they will no longer use the Ark of the covenant but rather the city of Jerusalem itself will be acknowledged as the very throne of the Lord because His very presence will be there.

At that time God’s people will no longer walk after the imagination coming out of an evil heart but after the Lord. This will involve the revelation of God as their very Father.

But I said, How shall I put thee among the children, and give thee a pleasant land, a goodly heritage of the hosts of nations? and I said, Thou shalt call me, My father; and shalt not turn away from me. (Vs 19)

Galatians 1:

True apostles are not of men or by man but are raised up by God through direct revelation and visitation from God.

Galatians 3:

God ministers the Spirit in the midst of the church with miracles by the hearing of faith.

The hearing of faith comes out of moral persuasion in who God is to us personally.

Luke 23 and 24:

Christ endured rejection and humiliation from those that were His people without seeking to justify Himself and also chose to forgive the very ones that were torturing Him unto death. There is therefore no excuse for us to reach out with the same love to our friends and whoever else would treat us in the most unjust possible way. When we are so in conformity to God’s being of love there will come the time of resurrection in life and great blessing because of what we have endured.

Isaiah 8:

  1. Israel had as a nation chosen to delight and walk in the self sufficiency of military might and glory of Samaria that feed their self-worshiping pride rather than the waters of prosperity that go softly in humility and peace. 1-8
  2. The LORD calls Israel to not trust in a confederacy with other nations to protect them. The fear behind making a confederacy is not to be feared also but we are to make the LORD our fear and then the LORD will become a sanctuary of protection and refuge. Those that refuse to trust in the LORD in this way out of the fear of God have the LORD become instead of a sanctuary a stumbling and rock of offence. This reveals that self-righteousness is a deception that comes out of the failure to fear the LORD. 9-15
  3. The LORD’s genuine people are a testimony against those that call themselves God’s people that are not in fact the LORD’s possession. The testimony of God’s people becomes clear and that they are God’s disciples. This is because in time the fruit of those that are holding the truth in unrighteousness becomes clear in that they turn to evil spirits and are driven to darkness against the light of God. 16-22
