Scriptures Taken by Lot Before the LORD with Rough Notes

December 8, 2025 Monday
Psalms 52 and Jeremiah 24

Both of these chapters are about if we are making God or the world our trust and our refuge. Seeking to save our lives by trusting and seeking the gratification of temporal things results in God’s judgment and losing our lives.

Jer 24:1-10 (KJV)

1The LORD shewed me, and, behold, two baskets of figs were set before the temple of the LORD, after that Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon had carried away captive Jeconiah the son of Jehoiakim king of Judah, and the princes of Judah, with the carpenters and smiths, from Jerusalem, and had brought them to Babylon.2One basket had very good figs, even like the figs that are first ripe: and the other basket had very naughty figs, which could not be eaten, they were so bad.3Then said the LORD unto me, What seest thou, Jeremiah? And I said, Figs; the good figs, very good; and the evil, very evil, that cannot be eaten, they are so evil.4Again the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,5Thus saith the LORD, the God of Israel; Like these good figs, so will I acknowledge them that are carried away captive of Judah, whom I have sent out of this place into the land of the Chaldeans for their good.6For I will set mine eyes upon them for good, and I will bring them again to this land: and I will build them, and not pull them down; and I will plant them, and not pluck them up.7And I will give them an heart to know me, that I am the LORD: and they shall be my people, and I will be their God: for they shall return unto me with their whole heart.8And as the evil figs, which cannot be eaten, they are so evil; surely thus saith the LORD, So will I give Zedekiah the king of Judah, and his princes, and the residue of Jerusalem, that remain in this land, and them that dwell in the land of Egypt:9And I will deliver them to be removed into all the kingdoms of the earth for their hurt, to be a reproach and a proverb, a taunt and a curse, in all places whither I shall drive them.10And I will send the sword, the famine, and the pestilence, among them, till they be consumed from off the land that I gave unto them and to their fathers.

Ps 52:1-9 (KJV)

1To the chief Musician, Maschil, A Psalm of David, when Doeg the Edomite came and told Saul, and said unto him, David is come to the house of Ahimelech. Why boastest thou thyself in mischief, O mighty man? the goodness of God endureth continually.2Thy tongue deviseth mischiefs; like a sharp razor, working deceitfully.3Thou lovest evil more than good; and lying rather than to speak righteousness. Selah.4Thou lovest all devouring words, O thou deceitful tongue.5God shall likewise destroy thee for ever, he shall take thee away, and pluck thee out of thy dwelling place, and root thee out of the land of the living. Selah.6The righteous also shall see, and fear, and shall laugh at him:7Lo, this is the man that made not God his strength; but trusted in the abundance of his riches, and strengthened himself in his wickedness.8But I am like a green olive tree in the house of God: I trust in the mercy of God for ever and ever.9I will praise thee for ever, because thou hast done it: and I will wait on thy name; for it is good before thy saints.

Ps 119:73-80 (KJV)

73JOD. Thy hands have made me and fashioned me: give me understanding, that I may learn thy commandments.74They that fear thee will be glad when they see me; because I have hoped in thy word.75I know, O LORD, that thy judgments are right, and that thou in faithfulness hast afflicted me.76Let, I pray thee, thy merciful kindness be for my comfort, according to thy word unto thy servant.77Let thy tender mercies come unto me, that I may live: for thy law is my delight.78Let the proud be ashamed; for they dealt perversely with me without a cause: but I will meditate in thy precepts.79Let those that fear thee turn unto me, and those that have known thy testimonies.80Let my heart be sound in thy statutes; that I be not ashamed.
JOD: work, throw, worship
We are to ask for understanding in order to learn the commandments of God. Those that have the genuine fear of God have a spiritual connection with each other that is in the witness of gladness that comes forth when they see each other and this is also because we have hoped in God’s Word and not the things of this fallen world. They also acknowledge that God’s severe dealings in their life was right and needed to bring forth God’s best for His glory and their lives. We should also ask God to comfort us with His merciful kindness. When we know that we delight in God’s law we can with great assurance of faith ask for God’s mercies in our lives.

John 17 and Jonah 4
John 17 is Christ prayer for our oneness with each other and in Jesus Christ. In Jonah we see the secret to oneness is to be in the fear of God to receive the mercy of God. It is out of the genuine fear of God that we enter into the fulfillment of this oneness in the Son and in each other. This first requires the recognition of God’s holiness in its severity against sin in our life and in this world as good and right out of which then we deeply impelled to fully reciprocate the mercy of God so that we can show mercy to others. Without this we could never enter into this oneness. This oneness is through the name of God, the Father, which is the love of God in these two aspects which are the integrity of God’s love which is the holiness of God’s love out of which flows the mercy of God’s love.

Isaiah 39 and 2 Samuel 10
The theme in both these chapters is not to trust or compromise with the heathen that do not know God because there outward show of friendless is only a cover for their real intent to rule over us and those that should be under the rule of the Kingdom of God.

2Sam 10:1-7 (KJV)

1And it came to pass after this, that the king of the children of Ammon died, and Hanun his son reigned in his stead.2Then said David, I will shew kindness unto Hanun the son of Nahash, as his father shewed kindness unto me. And David sent to comfort him by the hand of his servants for his father. And David’s servants came into the land of the children of Ammon.3And the princes of the children of Ammon said unto Hanun their lord, Thinkest thou that David doth honour thy father, that he hath sent comforters unto thee? hath not David rather sent his servants unto thee, to search the city, and to spy it out, and to overthrow it?4Wherefore Hanun took David’s servants, and shaved off the one half of their beards, and cut off their garments in the middle, even to their buttocks, and sent them away.5When they told it unto David, he sent to meet them, because the men were greatly ashamed: and the king said, Tarry at Jericho until your beards be grown, and then return.6And when the children of Ammon saw that they stank before David, the children of Ammon sent and hired the Syrians of Bethrehob, and the Syrians of Zoba, twenty thousand footmen, and of king Maacah a thousand men, and of Ishtob twelve thousand men.7And when David heard of it, he sent Joab, and all the host of the mighty men.

Isa 39:1-8 (KJV)

1At that time Merodachbaladan, the son of Baladan, king of Babylon, sent letters and a present to Hezekiah: for he had heard that he had been sick, and was recovered.2And Hezekiah was glad of them, and shewed them the house of his precious things, the silver, and the gold, and the spices, and the precious ointment, and all the house of his armour, and all that was found in his treasures: there was nothing in his house, nor in all his dominion, that Hezekiah shewed them not.3Then came Isaiah the prophet unto king Hezekiah, and said unto him, What said these men? and from whence came they unto thee? And Hezekiah said, They are come from a far country unto me, even from Babylon.4Then said he, What have they seen in thine house? And Hezekiah answered, All that is in mine house have they seen: there is nothing among my treasures that I have not shewed them.5Then said Isaiah to Hezekiah, Hear the word of the LORD of hosts:6Behold, the days come, that all that is in thine house, and that which thy fathers have laid up in store until this day, shall be carried to Babylon: nothing shall be left, saith the LORD.7And of thy sons that shall issue from thee, which thou shalt beget, shall they take away; and they shall be eunuchs in the palace of the king of Babylon.8Then said Hezekiah to Isaiah, Good is the word of the LORD which thou hast spoken. He said moreover, For there shall be peace and truth in my days.

Ps 119:81-88 (KJV)

81CAPH. My soul fainteth for thy salvation: but I hope in thy word.82Mine eyes fail for thy word, saying, When wilt thou comfort me?83For I am become like a bottle in the smoke; yet do I not forget thy statutes.84How many are the days of thy servant? when wilt thou execute judgment on them that persecute me?85The proud have digged pits for me, which are not after thy law.86All thy commandments are faithful: they persecute me wrongfully; help thou me.87They had almost consumed me upon earth; but I forsook not thy precepts.88Quicken me after thy lovingkindness; so shall I keep the testimony of thy mouth.

CAPH means bend, open, allow, tame

Our soul needs to come to utter desperate desire for the salvation of the LORD in our lives. Our desire to see, perceive and understand the Word of God should be whole-hearted to the point of exhaustion so that we cry out for the comfort of God. Even when our life seems to be at its end we still do not forget God’s commandments. Even when the wicked almost consume our whole natural life on earth we do not forget God’s specific instructions for our life. Rather we ask God to impart unto us His life in alignment with His lovingkindness so that we can have the power to keep alive the testimony of what we profess before others.

2 Chronicles 19 and Ezekiel 13
2 Chronicles 19 is about spiritual and government leadership that has the fear of God to rightly judge and Ezekiel 13 is in contrast describing false prophets and spiritual leadership that was leading God’s people astray.

2Chr 19:5-9 (KJV)

5And he set judges in the land throughout all the fenced cities of Judah, city by city,6And said to the judges, Take heed what ye do: for ye judge not for man, but for the LORD, who is with you in the judgment.7Wherefore now let the fear of the LORD be upon you; take heed and do it: for there is no iniquity with the LORD our God, nor respect of persons, nor taking of gifts.8Moreover in Jerusalem did Jehoshaphat set of the Levites, and of the priests, and of the chief of the fathers of Israel, for the judgment of the LORD, and for controversies, when they returned to Jerusalem.9And he charged them, saying, Thus shall ye do in the fear of the LORD, faithfully, and with a perfect heart.

Ezek 13:1-11 (KJV)

1And the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,2Son of man, prophesy against the prophets of Israel that prophesy, and say thou unto them that prophesy out of their own hearts, Hear ye the word of the LORD;3Thus saith the Lord GOD; Woe unto the foolish prophets, that follow their own spirit, and have seen nothing!4O Israel, thy prophets are like the foxes in the deserts.5Ye have not gone up into the gaps, neither made up the hedge for the house of Israel to stand in the battle in the day of the LORD.6They have seen vanity and lying divination, saying, The LORD saith: and the LORD hath not sent them: and they have made others to hope that they would confirm the word.7Have ye not seen a vain vision, and have ye not spoken a lying divination, whereas ye say, The LORD saith it; albeit I have not spoken?8Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Because ye have spoken vanity, and seen lies, therefore, behold, I am against you, saith the Lord GOD.9And mine hand shall be upon the prophets that see vanity, and that divine lies: they shall not be in the assembly of my people, neither shall they be written in the writing of the house of Israel, neither shall they enter into the land of Israel; and ye shall know that I am the Lord GOD.10Because, even because they have seduced my people, saying, Peace; and there was no peace; and one built up a wall, and, lo, others daubed it with untempered morter:11Say unto them which daub it with untempered morter, that it shall fall: there shall be an overflowing shower; and ye, O great hailstones, shall fall; and a stormy wind shall rend it.

Ps 119:89-96 (KJV)

89LAMED. For ever, O LORD, thy word is settled in heaven.90Thy faithfulness is unto all generations: thou hast established the earth, and it abideth.91They continue this day according to thine ordinances: for all are thy servants.92Unless thy law had been my delights, I should then have perished in mine affliction.93I will never forget thy precepts: for with them thou hast quickened me.94I am thine, save me; for I have sought thy precepts.95The wicked have waited for me to destroy me: but I will consider thy testimonies.96I have seen an end of all perfection: but thy commandment is exceeding broad.

LAMED meaning teach, yolk, toward, bind
In heaven the word of God is established with no end forever. What is established on earth is therefore also by the word of God. Everything that is created is good and is a servant to God except for our free choice and the manifest consequence of corrupt choices. When God’s law is our delight we can endure affliction instead of perish from it. When we observe God’s detailed instructions for our life God gives us life to overcome what brings corruption and death.

Psalms 75 and Proverbs 25 plus 1 Kings 1
The common theme between these three chapters is lettling God promote you and not promoting yourself. 1 Kings is about Bathsheba informing King David that Adonijah was seeking to be King instead of King Solomon.

Ps 75:1-10 (KJV)

1To the chief Musician, Altaschith, A Psalm or Song of Asaph. Unto thee, O God, do we give thanks, unto thee do we give thanks: for that thy name is near thy wondrous works declare.2When I shall receive the congregation I will judge uprightly.3The earth and all the inhabitants thereof are dissolved: I bear up the pillars of it. Selah.4I said unto the fools, Deal not foolishly: and to the wicked, Lift not up the horn:5Lift not up your horn on high: speak not with a stiff neck.6For promotion cometh neither from the east, nor from the west, nor from the south.7But God is the judge: he putteth down one, and setteth up another.8For in the hand of the LORD there is a cup, and the wine is red; it is full of mixture; and he poureth out of the same: but the dregs thereof, all the wicked of the earth shall wring them out, and drink them.9But I will declare for ever; I will sing praises to the God of Jacob.10All the horns of the wicked also will I cut off; but the horns of the righteous shall be exalted.

Prov 25:1-28 (KJV)

1These are also proverbs of Solomon, which the men of Hezekiah king of Judah copied out.2It is the glory of God to conceal a thing: but the honour of kings is to search out a matter.3The heaven for height, and the earth for depth, and the heart of kings is unsearchable.4Take away the dross from the silver, and there shall come forth a vessel for the finer.5Take away the wicked from before the king, and his throne shall be established in righteousness.6Put not forth thyself in the presence of the king, and stand not in the place of great men:7For better it is that it be said unto thee, Come up hither; than that thou shouldest be put lower in the presence of the prince whom thine eyes have seen.8Go not forth hastily to strive, lest thou know not what to do in the end thereof, when thy neighbour hath put thee to shame.9Debate thy cause with thy neighbour himself; and discover not a secret to another:10Lest he that heareth it put thee to shame, and thine infamy turn not away.11A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in pictures of silver.12As an earring of gold, and an ornament of fine gold, so is a wise reprover upon an obedient ear.13As the cold of snow in the time of harvest, so is a faithful messenger to them that send him: for he refresheth the soul of his masters.14Whoso boasteth himself of a false gift is like clouds and wind without rain.15By long forbearing is a prince persuaded, and a soft tongue breaketh the bone.16Hast thou found honey? eat so much as is sufficient for thee, lest thou be filled therewith, and vomit it.17Withdraw thy foot from thy neighbour’s house; lest he be weary of thee, and so hate thee.18A man that beareth false witness against his neighbour is a maul, and a sword, and a sharp arrow.19Confidence in an unfaithful man in time of trouble is like a broken tooth, and a foot out of joint.20As he that taketh away a garment in cold weather, and as vinegar upon nitre, so is he that singeth songs to an heavy heart.21If thine enemy be hungry, give him bread to eat; and if he be thirsty, give him water to drink:22For thou shalt heap coals of fire upon his head, and the LORD shall reward thee.23The north wind driveth away rain: so doth an angry countenance a backbiting tongue.24It is better to dwell in the corner of the housetop, than with a brawling woman and in a wide house.25As cold waters to a thirsty soul, so is good news from a far country.26A righteous man falling down before the wicked is as a troubled fountain, and a corrupt spring.27It is not good to eat much honey: so for men to search their own glory is not glory.28He that hath no rule over his own spirit is like a city that is broken down, and without walls.

Ps 119:97-104 (KJV)

97MEM. O how love I thy law! it is my meditation all the day.98Thou through thy commandments hast made me wiser than mine enemies: for they are ever with me.99I have more understanding than all my teachers: for thy testimonies are my meditation.100I understand more than the ancients, because I keep thy precepts.101I have refrained my feet from every evil way, that I might keep thy word.102I have not departed from thy judgments: for thou hast taught me.103How sweet are thy words unto my taste! yea, sweeter than honey to my mouth!104Through thy precepts I get understanding: therefore I hate every false way.

MEM means chaos, mighty, blood, water
There should be a love in our heart for the word of God so that we are meditating upon it throughout the whole day. This will make us wiser than our enemies. When we meditate on God’s testimonies we have greater understanding than all our teachers and we even have more understanding than the elders because we live out God’s specific instructions for our life.

1Kgs 1:24-35 (KJV)

24And Nathan said, My lord, O king, hast thou said, Adonijah shall reign after me, and he shall sit upon my throne?25For he is gone down this day, and hath slain oxen and fat cattle and sheep in abundance, and hath called all the king’s sons, and the captains of the host, and Abiathar the priest; and, behold, they eat and drink before him, and say, God save king Adonijah.26But me, even me thy servant, and Zadok the priest, and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and thy servant Solomon, hath he not called.27Is this thing done by my lord the king, and thou hast not shewed it unto thy servant, who should sit on the throne of my lord the king after him?28Then king David answered and said, Call me Bathsheba. And she came into the king’s presence, and stood before the king.29And the king sware, and said, As the LORD liveth, that hath redeemed my soul out of all distress,30Even as I sware unto thee by the LORD God of Israel, saying, Assuredly Solomon thy son shall reign after me, and he shall sit upon my throne in my stead; even so will I certainly do this day.31Then Bathsheba bowed with her face to the earth, and did reverence to the king, and said, Let my lord king David live for ever.32And king David said, Call me Zadok the priest, and Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada. And they came before the king.33The king also said unto them, Take with you the servants of your lord, and cause Solomon my son to ride upon mine own mule, and bring him down to Gihon:34And let Zadok the priest and Nathan the prophet anoint him there king over Israel: and blow ye with the trumpet, and say, God save king Solomon.35Then ye shall come up after him, that he may come and sit upon my throne; for he shall be king in my stead: and I have appointed him to be ruler over Israel and over Judah.
