SCRIPTURES BY LOT AND ROUGH NOTES

March 10, 2025 Monday
Romans 15 and Judges 2 plus Colossians 3

In Romans 15 we see God’s people having a relationship with Christ that causes the Gentiles to be converted and in Judges 2 we see the heathen Gentiles having the power after the third generation to take God’s people away from oneness with God to total rebellion against God.

The question is why did they need Judges to deliver them instead of each individual having a victorious relationship with God to deliver themselves. It is the failure of parents to put their children into God’s hands in sacrifice and the failure to seek God and abide in God out of love for God. This is because their focus was on the law which is a focus on self and self performance instead of relationship and fellowship with God.

Judg 2:1-5 (KJV)

1And an angel of the LORD came up from Gilgal to Bochim, and said, I made you to go up out of Egypt, and have brought you unto the land which I sware unto your fathers; and I said, I will never break my covenant with you.2And ye shall make no league with the inhabitants of this land; ye shall throw down their altars: but ye have not obeyed my voice: why have ye done this?3Wherefore I also said, I will not drive them out from before you; but they shall be as thorns in your sides, and their gods shall be a snare unto you.4And it came to pass, when the angel of the LORD spake these words unto all the children of Israel, that the people lifted up their voice, and wept.5And they called the name of that place Bochim: and they sacrificed there unto the LORD.

Rom 15:5-9 (KJV)

5Now the God of patience and consolation grant you to be likeminded one toward another according to Christ Jesus:6That ye may with one mind and one mouth glorify God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.7Wherefore receive ye one another, as Christ also received us to the glory of God.8Now I say that Jesus Christ was a minister of the circumcision for the truth of God, to confirm the promises made unto the fathers:9And that the Gentiles might glorify God for his mercy; as it is written, For this cause I will confess to thee among the Gentiles, and sing unto thy name.

2 Kings 15 and Matthew 15
The name Azariah is the same as the name Uzziah.
In these two chapters we see the danger of spiritual pride which can cause us to be presumptous to do what we think will not displease God. This is contrasted in Matthew 15 with the Gentile woman who is humbled by Jesus Christ by being told she is not worthy to receive mercy but is like a dog at the table that does not have the right to eat with people but only to have what falls from the table. She responses with humility instead of offense and thus receives mercy and healing for her daughter.

2Kgs 15:1-7 (KJV)

1In the twenty and seventh year of Jeroboam king of Israel began Azariah son of Amaziah king of Judah to reign.2Sixteen years old was he when he began to reign, and he reigned two and fifty years in Jerusalem. And his mother’s name was Jecholiah of Jerusalem.3And he did that which was right in the sight of the LORD, according to all that his father Amaziah had done;4Save that the high places were not removed: the people sacrificed and burnt incense still on the high places.5And the LORD smote the king, so that he was a leper unto the day of his death, and dwelt in a several house. And Jotham the king’s son was over the house, judging the people of the land.6And the rest of the acts of Azariah, and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?7So Azariah slept with his fathers; and they buried him with his fathers in the city of David: and Jotham his son reigned in his stead.

2Chr 26:16-22 (KJV)

16But when he was strong, his heart was lifted up to his destruction: for he transgressed against the LORD his God, and went into the temple of the LORD to burn incense upon the altar of incense.17And Azariah the priest went in after him, and with him fourscore priests of the LORD, that were valiant men:18And they withstood Uzziah the king, and said unto him, It appertaineth not unto thee, Uzziah, to burn incense unto the LORD, but to the priests the sons of Aaron, that are consecrated to burn incense: go out of the sanctuary; for thou hast trespassed; neither shall it be for thine honour from the LORD God.19Then Uzziah was wroth, and had a censer in his hand to burn incense: and while he was wroth with the priests, the leprosy even rose up in his forehead before the priests in the house of the LORD, from beside the incense altar.20And Azariah the chief priest, and all the priests, looked upon him, and, behold, he was leprous in his forehead, and they thrust him out from thence; yea, himself hasted also to go out, because the LORD had smitten him.21And Uzziah the king was a leper unto the day of his death, and dwelt in a several house, being a leper; for he was cut off from the house of the LORD: and Jotham his son was over the king’s house, judging the people of the land.22Now the rest of the acts of Uzziah, first and last, did Isaiah the prophet, the son of Amoz, write.

Matt 15:21-28 (KJV)

21Then Jesus went thence, and departed into the coasts of Tyre and Sidon.22And, behold, a woman of Canaan came out of the same coasts, and cried unto him, saying, Have mercy on me, O Lord, thou Son of David; my daughter is grievously vexed with a devil.23But he answered her not a word. And his disciples came and besought him, saying, Send her away; for she crieth after us.24But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel.25Then came she and worshipped him, saying, Lord, help me.26But he answered and said, It is not meet to take the children’s bread, and to cast it to dogs.27And she said, Truth, Lord: yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters’ table.28Then Jesus answered and said unto her, O woman, great is thy faith: be it unto thee even as thou wilt. And her daughter was made whole from that very hour.

Matt 15:7-13 (KJV)

7Ye hypocrites, well did Esaias prophesy of you, saying,8This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me.9But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.10And he called the multitude, and said unto them, Hear, and understand:11Not that which goeth into the mouth defileth a man; but that which cometh out of the mouth, this defileth a man.12Then came his disciples, and said unto him, Knowest thou that the Pharisees were offended, after they heard this saying?13But he answered and said, Every plant, which my heavenly Father hath not planted, shall be rooted up.

Psalm 63 and Zechariah 1
The common theme and message in these two chapters is the burden and hunger to see the glory of God in His temple or place of habitation with man. This also includes seeking the LORD and an abiding relationship out of that with the LORD. Both chapters reveal the result of an individual and corporate established love relationship with Yahweh, The Almighties, is the destruction of their captors and oppressors.
Ps 63:1-3 (KJV)

1A Psalm of David, when he was in the wilderness of Judah. O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is;2To see thy power and thy glory, so as I have seen thee in the sanctuary.3Because thy lovingkindness is better than life, my lips shall praise thee.

Ps 63:6-11 (KJV)

6When I remember thee upon my bed, and meditate on thee in the night watches.7Because thou hast been my help, therefore in the shadow of thy wings will I rejoice.8My soul followeth hard after thee: thy right hand upholdeth me.9But those that seek my soul, to destroy it, shall go into the lower parts of the earth.10They shall fall by the sword: they shall be a portion for foxes.11But the king shall rejoice in God; every one that sweareth by him shall glory: but the mouth of them that speak lies shall be stopped.

Zech 1:12-17 (KJV)

12Then the angel of the LORD answered and said, O LORD of hosts, how long wilt thou not have mercy on Jerusalem and on the cities of Judah, against which thou hast had indignation these threescore and ten years?13And the LORD answered the angel that talked with me with good words and comfortable words.14So the angel that communed with me said unto me, Cry thou, saying, Thus saith the LORD of hosts; I am jealous for Jerusalem and for Zion with a great jealousy.15And I am very sore displeased with the heathen that are at ease: for I was but a little displeased, and they helped forward the affliction.16Therefore thus saith the LORD; I am returned to Jerusalem with mercies: my house shall be built in it, saith the LORD of hosts, and a line shall be stretched forth upon Jerusalem.17Cry yet, saying, Thus saith the LORD of hosts; My cities through prosperity shall yet be spread abroad; and the LORD shall yet comfort Zion, and shall yet choose Jerusalem.

Zech 1:18-21 (KJV)

18Then lifted I up mine eyes, and saw, and behold four horns.19And I said unto the angel that talked with me, What be these? And he answered me, These are the horns which have scattered Judah, Israel, and Jerusalem.20And the LORD shewed me four carpenters.21Then said I, What come these to do? And he spake, saying, These are the horns which have scattered Judah, so that no man did lift up his head: but these are come to fray them, to cast out the horns of the Gentiles, which lifted up their horn over the land of Judah to scatter it.

Jeremiah 11 and 1 Thessalonians 4 plus Psalms 36

All of these chapters reveal the lack of the fear of God resulting in the rebellious state of the heart against God that brings the severe judgment on such.

Jer 11:1-3 (KJV)

1The word that came to Jeremiah from the LORD, saying,2Hear ye the words of this covenant, and speak unto the men of Judah, and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem;3And say thou unto them, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel; Cursed be the man that obeyeth not the words of this covenant,

Jer 11:9-12 (KJV)

9And the LORD said unto me, A conspiracy is found among the men of Judah, and among the inhabitants of Jerusalem.10They are turned back to the iniquities of their forefathers, which refused to hear my words; and they went after other gods to serve them: the house of Israel and the house of Judah have broken my covenant which I made with their fathers.11Therefore thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will bring evil upon them, which they shall not be able to escape; and though they shall cry unto me, I will not hearken unto them.12Then shall the cities of Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem go, and cry unto the gods unto whom they offer incense: but they shall not save them at all in the time of their trouble.

1Thess 4:2-7 (KJV)

2For ye know what commandments we gave you by the Lord Jesus.3For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication:4That every one of you should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honour;5Not in the lust of concupiscence, even as the Gentiles which know not God:6That no man go beyond and defraud his brother in any matter: because that the Lord is the avenger of all such, as we also have forewarned you and testified.7For God hath not called us unto uncleanness, but unto holiness.

Ps 36:1-5 (KJV)

1To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David the servant of the LORD. The transgression of the wicked saith within my heart, that there is no fear of God before his eyes.2For he flattereth himself in his own eyes, until his iniquity be found to be hateful.3The words of his mouth are iniquity and deceit: he hath left off to be wise, and to do good.4He deviseth mischief upon his bed; he setteth himself in a way that is not good; he abhorreth not evil.5Thy mercy, O LORD, is in the heavens; and thy faithfulness reacheth unto the clouds.

Proverbs 21 and Matthew 3
These verses in these chapters are about bearing fruit onto God which requires diligence, the fear of God, and genuine repentance.

Prov 21:1-9 (KJV)

1The king’s heart is in the hand of the LORD, as the rivers of water: he turneth it whithersoever he will.2Every way of a man is right in his own eyes: but the LORD pondereth the hearts.3To do justice and judgment is more acceptable to the LORD than sacrifice.4An high look, and a proud heart, and the plowing of the wicked, is sin.5The thoughts of the diligent tend only to plenteousness; but of every one that is hasty only to want.6The getting of treasures by a lying tongue is a vanity tossed to and fro of them that seek death.7The robbery of the wicked shall destroy them; because they refuse to do judgment.8The way of man is froward and strange: but as for the pure, his work is right.9It is better to dwell in a corner of the housetop, than with a brawling woman in a wide house.

Matt 3:8-11 (KJV)

8Bring forth therefore fruits meet for repentance:9And think not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say unto you, that God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham.10And now also the axe is laid unto the root of the trees: therefore every tree which bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.11I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire:

Deuteronomy 15

4However, there will be no poor among you, since the Lord will most certainly bless you in the land which the Lord your God is giving you as an inheritance to possess, 5if only you will listen to and obey the voice of the Lord your God, to observe carefully all these commandments which I am commanding you today. 6When the Lord your God blesses you as He has promised you, then you will lend to many nations, but you will not borrow; and you will rule over many nations, but they will not rule over you.
