Two Chapters Taken By Lot Before the LORD with Rough Notes

April 14, 2025 Monday
Psalms 62 and Exodus 12 plus Deuteronomy 19
All three of these chapters have the common theme of a place of refuge and that place of refuge being in a right relationship with God through waiting and trusting in God in relation to God’s mercy which is revealed in atonement through sacrifice which points to Jesus Christ the sacrifical lamb of God.

Ps 62:1-8 (KJV)

1To the chief Musician, to Jeduthun, A Psalm of David. Truly my soul waiteth upon God: from him cometh my salvation.2He only is my rock and my salvation; he is my defence; I shall not be greatly moved.3How long will ye imagine mischief against a man? ye shall be slain all of you: as a bowing wall shall ye be, and as a tottering fence.4They only consult to cast him down from his excellency: they delight in lies: they bless with their mouth, but they curse inwardly. Selah.5My soul, wait thou only upon God; for my expectation is from him.6He only is my rock and my salvation: he is my defence; I shall not be moved.7In God is my salvation and my glory: the rock of my strength, and my refuge, is in God.8Trust in him at all times; ye people, pour out your heart before him: God is a refuge for us. Selah.

15Seven days shall ye eat unleavened bread; even the first day ye shall put away leaven out of your houses: for whosoever eateth leavened bread from the first day until the seventh day, that soul shall be cut off from Israel.

Exod 12:21-23 (KJV)

21Then Moses called for all the elders of Israel, and said unto them, Draw out and take you a lamb according to your families, and kill the passover.22And ye shall take a bunch of hyssop, and dip it in the blood that is in the bason, and strike the lintel and the two side posts with the blood that is in the bason; and none of you shall go out at the door of his house until the morning.23For the LORD will pass through to smite the Egyptians; and when he seeth the blood upon the lintel, and on the two side posts, the LORD will pass over the door, and will not suffer the destroyer to come in unto your houses to smite you.

Exod 12:29-36 (KJV)

29And it came to pass, that at midnight the LORD smote all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, from the firstborn of Pharaoh that sat on his throne unto the firstborn of the captive that was in the dungeon; and all the firstborn of cattle.30And Pharaoh rose up in the night, he, and all his servants, and all the Egyptians; and there was a great cry in Egypt; for there was not a house where there was not one dead.31And he called for Moses and Aaron by night, and said, Rise up, and get you forth from among my people, both ye and the children of Israel; and go, serve the LORD, as ye have said.32Also take your flocks and your herds, as ye have said, and be gone; and bless me also.33And the Egyptians were urgent upon the people, that they might send them out of the land in haste; for they said, We be all dead men.34And the people took their dough before it was leavened, their kneadingtroughs being bound up in their clothes upon their shoulders.35And the children of Israel did according to the word of Moses; and they borrowed of the Egyptians jewels of silver, and jewels of gold, and raiment:36And the LORD gave the people favour in the sight of the Egyptians, so that they lent unto them such things as they required. And they spoiled the Egyptians.

Isa 26:19-21 (KJV)

19Thy dead men shall live, together with my dead body shall they arise. Awake and sing, ye that dwell in dust: for thy dew is as the dew of herbs, and the earth shall cast out the dead.20Come, my people, enter thou into thy chambers, and shut thy doors about thee: hide thyself as it were for a little moment, until the indignation be overpast.21For, behold, the LORD cometh out of his place to punish the inhabitants of the earth for their iniquity: the earth also shall disclose her blood, and shall no more cover her slain.

1 Timothy 1 and Matthew 8

These two chapters are about having genuine faith that is revealed in deeds of righteousness that are fruitful unto God.

1Tim 1:3-4 (KJV)

3As I besought thee to abide still at Ephesus, when I went into Macedonia, that thou mightest charge some that they teach no other doctrine,4Neither give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which minister questions, rather than godly edifying which is in faith: so do.

1Tim 1:5-7 (KJV)

5Now the end of the commandment is charity out of a pure heart, and of a good conscience, and of faith unfeigned:6From which some having swerved have turned aside unto vain jangling;7Desiring to be teachers of the law; understanding neither what they say, nor whereof they affirm.

1Tim 1:18-20 (KJV)

18This charge I commit unto thee, son Timothy, according to the prophecies which went before on thee, that thou by them mightest war a good warfare;19Holding faith, and a good conscience; which some having put away concerning faith have made shipwreck:20Of whom is Hymenaeus and Alexander; whom I have delivered unto Satan, that they may learn not to blaspheme.

Matt 8:5-13 (KJV)

5And when Jesus was entered into Capernaum, there came unto him a centurion, beseeching him,6And saying, Lord, my servant lieth at home sick of the palsy, grievously tormented.7And Jesus saith unto him, I will come and heal him.8The centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not worthy that thou shouldest come under my roof: but speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed.9For I am a man under authority, having soldiers under me: and I say to this man, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it.10When Jesus heard it, he marvelled, and said to them that followed, Verily I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel.11And I say unto you, That many shall come from the east and west, and shall sit down with Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, in the kingdom of heaven.12But the children of the kingdom shall be cast out into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.13And Jesus said unto the centurion, Go thy way; and as thou hast believed, so be it done unto thee. And his servant was healed in the selfsame hour.

Matt 8:23-27 (KJV)

23And when he was entered into a ship, his disciples followed him.24And, behold, there arose a great tempest in the sea, insomuch that the ship was covered with the waves: but he was asleep.25And his disciples came to him, and awoke him, saying, Lord, save us: we perish.26And he saith unto them, Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith? Then he arose, and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm.27But the men marvelled, saying, What manner of man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey him!

Matt 8:31-34 (KJV)

31So the devils besought him, saying, If thou cast us out, suffer us to go away into the herd of swine.32And he said unto them, Go. And when they were come out, they went into the herd of swine: and, behold, the whole herd of swine ran violently down a steep place into the sea, and perished in the waters.33And they that kept them fled, and went their ways into the city, and told every thing, and what was befallen to the possessed of the devils.34And, behold, the whole city came out to meet Jesus: and when they saw him, they besought him that he would depart out of their coasts.

1 Thessalonians 1 and Psalms 79 plus Psalms 83
1 Thessalonians 1 is in contrast with Psalms 79.

In 1 Thessalonians 1 you have the glory of God being revealed to the heathen that brings many conversions of the heathen. In Psalms 79 God’s name is blasphemed among the heathen because the glory of God has been misrepresented by the apostasy of Israel.

1Thess 1:2-10 (KJV)

2We give thanks to God always for you all, making mention of you in our prayers;3Remembering without ceasing your work of faith, and labour of love, and patience of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ, in the sight of God and our Father;4Knowing, brethren beloved, your election of God.5For our gospel came not unto you in word only, but also in power, and in the Holy Ghost, and in much assurance; as ye know what manner of men we were among you for your sake.6And ye became followers of us, and of the Lord, having received the word in much affliction, with joy of the Holy Ghost:7So that ye were ensamples to all that believe in Macedonia and Achaia.8For from you sounded out the word of the Lord not only in Macedonia and Achaia, but also in every place your faith to God-ward is spread abroad; so that we need not to speak any thing.9For they themselves shew of us what manner of entering in we had unto you, and how ye turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God;10And to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead, even Jesus, which delivered us from the wrath to come.

Ps 79:8-12 (KJV)

8O remember not against us former iniquities: let thy tender mercies speedily prevent us: for we are brought very low.9Help us, O God of our salvation, for the glory of thy name: and deliver us, and purge away our sins, for thy name’s sake.10Wherefore should the heathen say, Where is their God? let him be known among the heathen in our sight by the revenging of the blood of thy servants which is shed.11Let the sighing of the prisoner come before thee; according to the greatness of thy power preserve thou those that are appointed to die;12And render unto our neighbours sevenfold into their bosom their reproach, wherewith they have reproached thee, O Lord.

Ps 83:1-5 (KJV)

1A Song or Psalm of Asaph. Keep not thou silence, O God: hold not thy peace, and be not still, O God.2For, lo, thine enemies make a tumult: and they that hate thee have lifted up the head.3They have taken crafty counsel against thy people, and consulted against thy hidden ones.4They have said, Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation; that the name of Israel may be no more in remembrance.5For they have consulted together with one consent: they are confederate against thee:

Ps 83:12-18 (KJV)

12Who said, Let us take to ourselves the houses of God in possession.13O my God, make them like a wheel; as the stubble before the wind.14As the fire burneth a wood, and as the flame setteth the mountains on fire;15So persecute them with thy tempest, and make them afraid with thy storm.16Fill their faces with shame; that they may seek thy name, O LORD.17Let them be confounded and troubled for ever; yea, let them be put to shame, and perish:18That men may know that thou, whose name alone is JEHOVAH, art the most high over all the earth.

Nehemiah 1 and Ephesians 5

Nehemiah is willing to lay down his life and risk everything to bring forth the restoration of the temple in Jerusalem which also means to bring forth the corporate bride. He diligently seeks God with fasting and heart breaking tears for His temple of glory to be restored. In Ephesians 5 we see the same passion and sacrifice out of love for God to bring forth the bride of Jesus Christ to shine with the full glory of God. Ephesians 5 emphasizes awakening out of corruption into light by living a holy life that redeems the time.

Neh 1:1-11 (KJV)

1The words of Nehemiah the son of Hachaliah. And it came to pass in the month Chisleu, in the twentieth year, as I was in Shushan the palace,2That Hanani, one of my brethren, came, he and certain men of Judah; and I asked them concerning the Jews that had escaped, which were left of the captivity, and concerning Jerusalem.3And they said unto me, The remnant that are left of the captivity there in the province are in great affliction and reproach: the wall of Jerusalem also is broken down, and the gates thereof are burned with fire.4And it came to pass, when I heard these words, that I sat down and wept, and mourned certain days, and fasted, and prayed before the God of heaven,5And said, I beseech thee, O LORD God of heaven, the great and terrible God, that keepeth covenant and mercy for them that love him and observe his commandments:6Let thine ear now be attentive, and thine eyes open, that thou mayest hear the prayer of thy servant, which I pray before thee now, day and night, for the children of Israel thy servants, and confess the sins of the children of Israel, which we have sinned against thee: both I and my father’s house have sinned.7We have dealt very corruptly against thee, and have not kept the commandments, nor the statutes, nor the judgments, which thou commandedst thy servant Moses.8Remember, I beseech thee, the word that thou commandedst thy servant Moses, saying, If ye transgress, I will scatter you abroad among the nations:9But if ye turn unto me, and keep my commandments, and do them; though there were of you cast out unto the uttermost part of the heaven, yet will I gather them from thence, and will bring them unto the place that I have chosen to set my name there.10Now these are thy servants and thy people, whom thou hast redeemed by thy great power, and by thy strong hand.11O Lord, I beseech thee, let now thine ear be attentive to the prayer of thy servant, and to the prayer of thy servants, who desire to fear thy name: and prosper, I pray thee, thy servant this day, and grant him mercy in the sight of this man. For I was the king’s cupbearer.

Eph 5:18-33 (KJV)

18And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;19Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;20Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;21Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God.22Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord.23For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body.24Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing.25Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;26That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,27That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.28So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself.29For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church:30For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones.31For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh.32This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church.33Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife see that she reverence her husband.

Isaiah 8 and Genesis 25

Isaiah 8

God dwells with those Who fear Him and have not compromised but rather highly valued their fellowship with God out of loving God by keeping His commandments. Esau sold his birthright for a temporary pleasure. In Isaiah 8 Israel out of fear of the king of Assyria instead of fearing God compromises with the King of Assyria. God is with us is mentioned twice in Isaiah 8.

Isa 8:11-22 (KJV)

11For the LORD spake thus to me with a strong hand, and instructed me that I should not walk in the way of this people, saying,12Say ye not, A confederacy, to all them to whom this people shall say, A confederacy; neither fear ye their fear, nor be afraid.13Sanctify the LORD of hosts himself; and let him be your fear, and let him be your dread.14And he shall be for a sanctuary; but for a stone of stumbling and for a rock of offence to both the houses of Israel, for a gin and for a snare to the inhabitants of Jerusalem.15And many among them shall stumble, and fall, and be broken, and be snared, and be taken.16Bind up the testimony, seal the law among my disciples.17And I will wait upon the LORD, that hideth his face from the house of Jacob, and I will look for him.18Behold, I and the children whom the LORD hath given me are for signs and for wonders in Israel from the LORD of hosts, which dwelleth in mount Zion.19And when they shall say unto you, Seek unto them that have familiar spirits, and unto wizards that peep, and that mutter: should not a people seek unto their God? for the living to the dead?20To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.21And they shall pass through it, hardly bestead and hungry: and it shall come to pass, that when

Gen 25:29-34 (KJV)

29And Jacob sod pottage: and Esau came from the field, and he was faint:30And Esau said to Jacob, Feed me, I pray thee, with that same red pottage; for I am faint: therefore was his name called Edom.31And Jacob said, Sell me this day thy birthright.32And Esau said, Behold, I am at the point to die: and what profit shall this birthright do to me?33And Jacob said, Swear to me this day; and he sware unto him: and he sold his birthright unto Jacob.34Then Jacob gave Esau bread and pottage of lentiles; and he did eat and drink, and rose up, and went his way: thus Esau despised his birthright.

they shall be hungry, they shall fret themselves, and curse their king and their God, and look upward.22And they shall look unto the earth; and behold trouble and darkness, dimness of anguish; and they shall be driven to darkness.
