Luke 11 and Psalms 42
Not giving up our faith but persevering with faith is what brings the answers and the victory.

Luke 11:9-10 (KJV)

9And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.10For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.

Ps 42:5-11 (KJV)

5Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted in me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him for the help of his countenance.6O my God, my soul is cast down within me: therefore will I remember thee from the land of Jordan, and of the Hermonites, from the hill Mizar.7Deep calleth unto deep at the noise of thy waterspouts: all thy waves and thy billows are gone over me.8Yet the LORD will command his lovingkindness in the daytime, and in the night his song shall be with me, and my prayer unto the God of my life.9I will say unto God my rock, Why hast thou forgotten me? why go I mourning because of the oppression of the enemy?10As with a sword in my bones, mine enemies reproach me; while they say daily unto me, Where is thy God?11Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted within me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him, who is the health of my countenance, and my God.

2 Kings 20 and Romans 3
Even the righteous like Hezekiah fell short of the glory of God.
2Kgs 20:4-7 (KJV)

4And it came to pass, afore Isaiah was gone out into the middle court, that the word of the LORD came to him, saying,5Turn again, and tell Hezekiah the captain of my people, Thus saith the LORD, the God of David thy father, I have heard thy prayer, I have seen thy tears: behold, I will heal thee: on the third day thou shalt go up unto the house of the LORD.6And I will add unto thy days fifteen years; and I will deliver thee and this city out of the hand of the king of Assyria; and I will defend this city for mine own sake, and for my servant David’s sake.7And Isaiah said, Take a lump of figs. And they took and laid it on the boil, and he recovered.

Rom 3:17-23 (KJV)

17And the way of peace have they not known:18There is no fear of God before their eyes.19Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God.20Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.21But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets;22Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference:23For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

Lamentations 5 and Hosea 13 plus Hosea 1
In all of these chapters God’s people are in apostasy and brought to such desperation and helplessness that they resign themselves to the judgment they deserve and in it feel so rejected by God that they no longer even believe they are the people of God in Hosea 1. It is then that God shows mercy and they are fully repentant so that they are restored as the true people of God.

Lam 5:19-22 (KJV)

19Thou, O LORD, remainest for ever; thy throne from generation to generation.20Wherefore dost thou forget us for ever, and forsake us so long time?21Turn thou us unto thee, O LORD, and we shall be turned; renew our days as of old.22But thou hast utterly rejected us; thou art very wroth against us.

Hos 13:9-14 (KJV)

9O Israel, thou hast destroyed thyself; but in me is thine help.10I will be thy king: where is any other that may save thee in all thy cities? and thy judges of whom thou saidst, Give me a king and princes?11I gave thee a king in mine anger, and took him away in my wrath.12The iniquity of Ephraim is bound up; his sin is hid.13The sorrows of a travailing woman shall come upon him: he is an unwise son; for he should not stay long in the place of the breaking forth of children.14I will ransom them from the power of the grave; I will redeem them from death: O death, I will be thy plagues; O grave, I will be thy destruction: repentance shall be hid from mine eyes.

Hos 1:3-11 (KJV)

3So he went and took Gomer the daughter of Diblaim; which conceived, and bare him a son.4And the LORD said unto him, Call his name Jezreel; for yet a little while, and I will avenge the blood of Jezreel upon the house of Jehu, and will cause to cease the kingdom of the house of Israel.5And it shall come to pass at that day, that I will break the bow of Israel in the valley of Jezreel.6And she conceived again, and bare a daughter. And God said unto him, Call her name Loruhamah: for I will no more have mercy upon the house of Israel; but I will utterly take them away.7But I will have mercy upon the house of Judah, and will save them by the LORD their God, and will not save them by bow, nor by sword, nor by battle, by horses, nor by horsemen.8Now when she had weaned Loruhamah, she conceived, and bare a son.9Then said God, Call his name Loammi: for ye are not my people, and I will not be your God.10Yet the number of the children of Israel shall be as the sand of the sea, which cannot be measured nor numbered; and it shall come to pass, that in the place where it was said unto them, Ye are not my people, there it shall be said unto them, Ye are the sons of the living God.11Then shall the children of Judah and the children of Israel be gathered together, and appoint themselves one head, and they shall come up out of the land: for great shall be the day of Jezreel.

2 Samuel 1 and 2 Kings 8 plus Proverbs 20
In these first two chapters there is the common theme of people of God that have a great trial where it looks like the friends most dear to them are lost but because they trusted God they choose to step out in faith to initiate God’s deliverance and provision. The result was an immediate deliverance with provision and then later and even very far greater blessing of provision and deliverance.
2Sam 1:1-4 (KJV)

1Now it came to pass after the death of Saul, when David was returned from the slaughter of the Amalekites, and David had abode two days in Ziklag;2It came even to pass on the third day, that, behold, a man came out of the camp from Saul with his clothes rent, and earth upon his head: and so it was, when he came to David, that he fell to the earth, and did obeisance.3And David said unto him, From whence comest thou? And he said unto him, Out of the camp of Israel am I escaped.4And David said unto him, How went the matter? I pray thee, tell me. And he answered, That the people are fled from the battle, and many of the people also are fallen and dead; and Saul and Jonathan his son are dead also.

2Kgs 8:1-6 (KJV)

1Then spake Elisha unto the woman, whose son he had restored to life, saying, Arise, and go thou and thine household, and sojourn wheresoever thou canst sojourn: for the LORD hath called for a famine; and it shall also come upon the land seven years.2And the woman arose, and did after the saying of the man of God: and she went with her household, and sojourned in the land of the Philistines seven years.3And it came to pass at the seven years’ end, that the woman returned out of the land of the Philistines: and she went forth to cry unto the king for her house and for her land.4And the king talked with Gehazi the servant of the man of God, saying, Tell me, I pray thee, all the great things that Elisha hath done.5And it came to pass, as he was telling the king how he had restored a dead body to life, that, behold, the woman, whose son he had restored to life, cried to the king for her house and for her land. And Gehazi said, My lord, O king, this is the woman, and this is her son, whom Elisha restored to life.6And when the king asked the woman, she told him. So the king appointed unto her a certain officer, saying, Restore all that was hers, and all the fruits of the field since the day that she left the land, even until now.

Prov 20:9-11 (KJV)

9Who can say, I have made my heart clean, I am pure from my sin?10Divers weights, and divers measures, both of them are alike abomination to the LORD.11Even a child is known by his doings, whether his work be pure, and whether it be right.
